Having a child at Herlufsholm naturally influences the family as a whole.
Life at Herlufsholm is based on a 10-day cycle: Boarders arrive Monday evening, the first school day is Tuesday, and teaching includes Saturday. Sunday has no teaching, but the boarders are expected to stay at the school. The second week begins Monday morning and continues until Friday afternoon, when boarders go home on their travel weekend, to return the following Monday evening.
The family will have its child/children at home every second Monday, balanced by the fact that will not see their child/children every second Saturday. This system may have consequences for students who have weekend activities that are not included in the school activities.
Herlufsholm highly prioritises cooperation with parents. On Fugleskydningsdagen (in August) each class elects its Parent Representative. All Parent Representatives meet – at the school – 3 times a year in order to discuss important issues at the school with the school management. Moreover, the Parent Representatives elect two members for the Board of Directors for Helrufsholm.
