Health and Nutrition
The school's kitchen serves varied, appetizing, and healthy meals that are nutritionally balanced based on the Danish Food Agency's dietary guidelines. We place great emphasis on making meals tasty and encouraging students to explore new flavors, expand their knowledge of seasonal vegetables, and experience the diverse range of ingredients.
We aim to practice eating a varied diet and getting the necessary nutrients to stay healthy and prevent diet-related diseases in the long run.
We know that the daily benefits of school and leisure activities are strongly influenced by what we eat and how active we are. Therefore, we want to stimulate students' awareness of good eating habits, so they understand the connection between the food we eat and the feelings of health, energy, and well-being in daily life.
Fruits and vegetables
Fruit and vegetables are included in all meals and contain relatively few calories, but in return, they are rich in the minerals and vitamins that keep the body healthy and strong. In particular, the fibrous vegetables are high in dietary fiber.
Vegetarian, allergy, and special needs
Both for lunch and dinner, a vegetarian dish is served for students who wish to eat vegetarian.
The kitchen takes into account students with different types of medically justified allergies. This is done in collaboration with the school's health services, SUS, which coordinates special dietary considerations with the kitchen.
Student influence
The Student Council’s Food Committee consists of representatives from the Student Council and teachers. The committee meets regularly with the kitchen staff to review meal plans and exchange ideas about the food. Each year, a food survey is conducted, where students have the opportunity to express their opinions about the meals. In both dining halls, there is also a suggestion box called "Madkassen" (the food box), where students can comment on the meals and make requests or suggestions.
The kitchen staff reviews the slips in the food box, and ideas and comments are discussed at the kitchen’s meetings with the Food Committee.
Meeting obligation for meals
All students are required to attend meals at the designated times. This includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is important that everyone participates in the communal meals to maintain a good social atmosphere and to promote the shared experience of meals. If for any reason a student cannot attend a meal, they should inform the kitchen staff or relevant personnel in advance.
Cancellation from meals
It is only rarely possible to cancel a meal. The cancellation must be well justified, but of course, there can be situations where you cannot attend a meal due to a doctor's or dentist's appointment, driving lessons/theory, etc. It is very important to cancel so that food is not wasted.
You should make sure to cancel as early as possible, and no later than the day before the meal you cannot attend. If an unexpected situation arises where you cannot meet the cancellation deadline, you should still contact the school office or your dormitory supervisor to cancel.
Boarding students who need to be cancelled from breakfast, lunch, or dinner should make arrangements with their dorm teacher, who will cancel them from the relevant meals.
