Graduated student from Herlufsholm

For parents

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in the school. At the beginning of the school year in August, each class selects a parent representative who meets with the school management three times a year. Among the parent representatives, two are also selected to serve as representatives on the school's board of directors.

Images on the School's Platforms and Marketing

Upon enrollment, all students and parents are requested to provide consent for Herlufsholm to take photographs of the students and use these images in connection with news on the school's platforms as well as for marketing purposes. If situations arise where a student wishes for a specific image not to be used, the student is asked to contact the marketing manager.

Consultations and parent meetings

Parent meetings are held once a year. The agenda is sent out with the invitation, and a summary is subsequently shared via the Parent Intranet for parents of students in the primary school. However, no summaries are prepared for parent meetings in the upper secondary school and IB programs.

As the meeting date approaches, the school will notify parents and provide detailed instructions on how to book appointments with their child’s various teachers. Additionally, it is possible to schedule a meeting with the boarding staff for boarding students.

ForældreIntra

Forældreintra is a dedicated platform for the school’s parents. It includes information from the office, invitations to balls and other events, class documents, news, and additional insights into the school’s daily life and activities.

Emails and newsletters

Herlufsholm occasionally sends out information via email. This can include inquiries or information for specific parents or students, invitations, newsletters, and more.

Intranet and  mid weekend application

Specifically for the students, there is access to the school's intranet and mid weekend application. Here, students can sign up for various activities and events.

Insurance

Remember to check whether the student is properly insured, particularly regarding liability, accidents, personal belongings, and travel. The student is responsible for personal belongings during their stay at Herlufsholm, including bicycles and electronic equipment.

For parents residing abroad, there may be specific conditions regarding the insurance coverage for their children's travel to and from Herlufsholm. The school has arranged a special travel insurance that addresses these conditions. More information can be obtained by contacting the finance department at +45 55 75 35 01.

Private arrangements

We encourage students to enjoy each other's company outside of school hours. However, there are some important factors the school would like to ensure understanding of, to avoid putting the students, the family, or the school in an uncomfortable situation.

For questions regarding private events for the school's students, please contact the school's office.

  • Throughout the year, there will be certain days and periods when, for the sake of the community, we ask that boarding students remain on campus. The school ensures that there are many activities during mid-weekends, and for the sake of participation and support, we ask that boarding students stay on school grounds. Day students are also welcome to join these activities.
  • Parents who plan a larger event for their child's class should always consult the school in advance to ensure that the event does not clash with the school's schedule.
  • In the middle school, it is particularly important for parents to contact the school so we can agree on the framework for boarding students' participation in events such as birthday parties or other class events before the final planning is done and invitations are sent out.

We encourage parents and students to take a critical look at the guest list when inviting to a party. Of course, this depends on the guidelines set for the party and how many are to be invited, but the school has witnessed the negative impact on an individual when even just one or a few students are not invited. It is unfair to be excluded when nearly the entire class or most of the year group are invited.

Boarding students' visits to day students.

Boarding students can arrange with their dormitory teacher to visit a day student after school and return to the school in time for dinner or before bedtime. It may also be the case that a boarding student goes home with a day student after school to stay overnight at the day student's home, with the plan to return together for the first lesson the next morning. In this case, both the day student's and boarding student's parents must confirm the arrangement with the dormitory teacher. Note that boarding students' visits to day students are generally not possible on Fridays and Saturdays, nor on Thursdays before a travel weekend.
