Boarding students from Herlufsholm getting ready for school

Skolebygningen Øst

The "Skygningen" or School Building is an old, beautiful, and listed building. It was originally constructed as a barn in 1743, but was converted for educational purposes at the beginning of the 19th century. Later, an additional floor was added, where today you will find two student dormitories called East and West.

In Herlovian parlance, the School Building is called "Skygningen" and is one of the oldest buildings at the school. The ground floor houses classrooms for the lower secondary school’s 7th to 9th grades, while the first and second floors are arranged as dormitories for boarding students. The students in Skygningen are divided between Skygningen East and Skygningen West, each of which has rooms on the first and second floors—most students live in double rooms, while others have single rooms. Most students bring a few extra items to give their rooms a cozy, personal touch.

The boarding teacher for Skygningen Øst is Søren Baltzersen.
