Alcohol Policy
The intention of Herlufsholm School's alcohol policy is to promote a healthy academic environment that fosters positive communities. Students at Herlufsholm School are committed to following the rules applicable at any given time.
Students in middle school up to and including 9th grade are never allowed to consume alcohol at school, even at parties.
It is not permitted, for both boarding and day students, to consume alcohol on the school's premises or in connection with transportation to and from school. Neither is it allowed to be under the influence of, store, or resell alcohol.
On special occasions, the management may grant permission for students in 10th grade, STX, and IB to drink alcohol. However, it is important that alcohol consumption is done responsibly and without causing disruption to other students or staff at the school.
Consumption of alcohol outside the school's designated framework is considered a serious breach of trust.
Special permission
Any deviation from the above requires explicit permission from the school management. Special permission to consume alcohol may only be granted to students in 10th grade, STX, and IB – and the school expects a reasonable and responsible approach to alcohol consumption.
At the school's parties, café evenings, and other events, it is only allowed to drink beer or wine that the school serves or sells. Students may never bring any form of alcohol to the school or consume alcohol before participating in a school event. At events outside the school's premises, the management may sometimes grant permission to consume beer or wine; this depends on the nature of the event and requires an explicit agreement with the school management.
The school reserves the right to test students for alcohol. If a test shows that a student has consumed alcohol, the student will receive a written warning and be denied the right to consume alcohol and/or participate in an upcoming student event at the school. In cases of severe violations or multiple warnings, the school reserves the right to impose further sanctions.
Sanctions
In connection with alcohol, we refer to the general sanctions described in the school's study and conduct rules.
