A school for those who want to know more, be able to do more, and achieve more.
Herlufsholm School was founded on May 23, 1565, as a school for the children of noble and respectable men, making it the oldest boarding school in Denmark. Thus, the school was meant to cater not only to children from the nobility but also to those who had the desire and ability for learning and education. As a result, we have many traditions that you won't find elsewhere, including:
- Festive parties, plays, and ceremonies where the school's founders are the center
- A school uniform that creates unity while also allowing for personal expression
- The Herlovian language, which is frequently used in daily life
Today, Herlufsholm houses students from 6th grade to the 10th grade of the middle school and 1st to 3rd year of the high school. Students come here to receive a strong academic education. We have day students and boarders, all distributed into smaller classes, where the focus is on peace, academic rigor, and well-being.
Herlufsholm Boarding School is divided into student houses, where students live in smaller groups with a housemaster and their family. This creates a close, familial atmosphere and helps foster strong friendships that, for many students, last a lifetime.
The first time you visit Herlufsholm, you will experience a very special atmosphere. The historic spirit, the old buildings, and the beautiful green areas provide a unique setting for education and boarding school life.
