Our Admission Process
Application and admission to Herlufsholm
To be a student at Herlufsholm requires more than just being present in the classroom. We have a comprehensive educational program where we have integrated extracurricular activities that we expect all students to participate in. That means that we in our admissions procedure not only look at academic results but also weigh the individual student’s potential for personal development in the Herlufsholm community.
We recommend that both day students and boarding students along with their parents attend our Open House events before a possible application for admission.
You can read more about our Open days here.
In connection with the application, it is important that we receive the grade report, preliminary evaluation of academic readiness or a letter of recommendation from the current school. We would also like to point out that we expect an approximate grade of 7 in the subjects of math, English and Danish for admission to STX (high school).
Applicants to Pre-IB or IB-diploma are admitted on a continuous basis. We therefore recommend that you apply as soon as possible and preferably before June 1. If the student wants to enroll in our IB education, there will also be an in-house admission test.
Please be aware that even though you apply to the highschool/IB via KOT, you also have to apply directly to Herlufsholm through the application form on this page.
Admission of day students
You will be invited to an interview at the school. Applicants to the middle school will talk with the head of the middle school. If you apply to the Danish high school STX, the head of the high school will be conduct the interview. Please note that the deadline for applying to STX is March 1, through Optagelse.dk.
Admission of boarding students
We invite you to a meeting on Teams where we briefly outline our educational program and decide on the further procedures regarding a possible admission as a boarding student at Herlufsholm.
Applicants for the Pre-IB/IB and middle school are admitted on an ongoing basis.
